ARTIST PROFILE - Edward Nowak (BA Hons)

Born in 1958, with a similar background to one of his fellow contemporaries, Jack Vettriano, having been brought up and educated in a Scottish mining community. He went on to study fine art at Edinburgh Heriot Watt University where he gained a BA (Hons) degree.

In 1981, he won first prize in the National Stowells of Chelsea Trophy Competition for the print “Modern Warsaw”, which was displayed at and subsequently purchased by the Royal Academy, London for its permanent collection. He has held many successful exhibitions in Scotland, Hungary and London. His work has also been shown in the Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibitions.

He explores the relationship between people and the environment, landscape and sky as themes for his visual images and currently works from his London studio.

As well as holding exhibitions, he undertakes commission work for businesses, local authorities and for private collections.
